Hire terms

These are the terms of a hire, written the way we would explain them at the door. There is nothing hidden in them, and if anything here is unclear, ask before you book rather than after.

The hire period

A hire is for a full day. We agree the collection and return times when you book, and they are the times we hold the machine for you.

If you are running late, message us. A machine that comes back late is usually a machine somebody else is waiting for, so we would rather rearrange than have you rush the job. A late return without warning may be charged as an additional day.

The deposit

We take a refundable damage deposit when you collect, and we tell you the amount when you book rather than at the door. It is returned the same day the machine comes back, once we have checked it over with you there.

The check takes a minute and happens in front of you. We are looking for cracked housings, damaged hoses and a blocked or broken pump — not for whether the machine looks used, which it will.

Damage, and what happens if something breaks

Ordinary wear is expected and is never your problem. Hoses scuff, wheels mark, and none of that comes off a deposit.

The deposit covers damage beyond ordinary use. If a repair costs more than the deposit, you are responsible for the difference, and we will show you the repair quote rather than simply naming a figure.

In practice, two things damage these machines: the wrong chemical in the tank, and running the pump with no solution in it. We show you how to avoid both when you collect, and both are covered in the printed guide.

The cleaning solution

One measured bottle of approved solution is included in the day rate, and it is the only thing that may go in the tank. Extra bottles are available from us.

This is not an upsell. Supermarket carpet shampoo foams in the recovery system and can damage the pump, and a solvent-based product can strip the colour out of your own furniture. The rule protects the machine, and it protects the thing you are cleaning.

What you are responsible for checking

Check the care label before you start. Fabric marked W or WS is safe for water-based cleaning. Fabric marked S is solvent-only and must not be wet cleaned. X means vacuum only. Leather and suede must never be wet cleaned.

If there is no label, test a hidden patch — the back of the couch, or underneath — and let it dry fully before you do the rest.

We will talk this through with you, and we are on WhatsApp during the hire. But the machine will clean whatever you point it at, and it cannot tell that a couch was never meant to be wet. That part is yours.

What we need from you

A South African ID document or passport, and proof of address, both at collection. We take a copy and keep it only for as long as the hire is open.

This is not about mistrust. It is a professional machine worth tens of thousands of rand, and checking who takes it is the reason it is still in working order when it reaches the next person.

If something is not right

If the machine is not working properly, stop and message us straight away. Do not persevere with it — a machine that is not extracting is a machine leaving water in your carpet.

If it turns out to be the machine rather than the method, you do not pay for the hire. We would rather lose a day rate than have someone spend their Saturday fighting our equipment.

Anything here you want explained?

Ask before you book. It is a quicker conversation now than at the door.
